The George – Log Cabins

A Planning Application has been submitted for the siting of three cabins on agricultural land to the rear of the pub. This has been the subject of speculation for some weeks now and residents will no doubt wish to view the plans. This can be done be clicking the link to our Planning Applications page and following the instructions which can then be found at the bottom of the page.  Any comments can be made direct to the Planning Office.

A separate Application has been received by the Borough Council for works being carried out on The George listed building itself but this has not yet been released for review. Further information will be provided in due course.

  1. It is highly recommended that you view the details on the Borough Council Planning site. However, we can confirm that the application explains that the 12 month temporary period sought is to provide the site owners with the opportunity to demonstrate that they can provide a professional service in harmony with the village environment. They appear to ultimately intend to seek permanent permission. They state the cabins are to supplement the rooms being built in the pub and are to provide letting accommodation for larger, family type groups who are too big for the indoor single occupancy rooms.

Let pemission for the 12 month temporary period, be granted and see if The George can prove to be what they state they can be.
Notice today, outside, they are opening shortly. Watch this space and support them.

Thank you for the update. We live very close to the George. Do we know the purpose of the cabins, ie what to be used for? I assume it is for workers to reside while the pub is renovated. Or they could be for holiday lets, or permanent residences?
